This 3 Days Gorilla Trekking Safari takes you to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Uganda’s smallest yet most spectacular park, located in the southwestern corner of the country at the base of the Virunga Volcanoes. The park is home to the Nyakagezi Gorilla Family, the only habituated gorilla group in Mgahinga, offering an exclusive and intimate gorilla trekking experience. The safari also includes scenic landscapes, volcanic views, and a rich cultural encounter with the Batwa community, the original forest dwellers.
Entebe International Airport
Our driver tour guide will pick you upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, briefs you about the entire safari and then begin your 9 hours’ scenic drive to southwestern Uganda. The journey takes you through rolling hills, lush farmlands, banana plantations, and traditional rural villages.
You will have a stopover at the Equator crossing line in Kayabwe for photos and proceed with lunch en route at Igongo cultural center in Mbarara city. Continue the drive through Kabale’s beautiful highlands, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa,” before arriving at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in the late afternoon. Check in to your booked lodge and relax as you enjoy the cool mountain air awaiting your gorilla trekking adventure the following day.

After an early breakfast at the lodge, transfer to Ntebeko Visitors’ Centre, the park headquarters, for registration and a detailed briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You will be guided on trekking rules, safety measures, and expected behavior while in the presence of mountain gorillas.
The gorilla trek begins as you hike through bamboo forests and montane vegetation along the slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes and trekking time varies between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the movement of the gorillas.
Once the gorillas are located, you will be allowed one hour in close vicinity with them observing their behaviors, interactions, and daily routines. This is a truly life-changing wildlife encounter and one of Africa’s most rewarding experiences.
After the trek, return to the starting point for lunch and relaxation at the lodge. In the afternoon, enjoy a Batwa pygmy’s Cultural experience, learning about their traditions, hunting skills, and a lot of their stories.

After early morning luscious breakfast, check out of the lodge and begin your return journey to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport for your return flight. On your way to Kampala, you will make a stopover in Mbarara city for lunch break at Igongo cultural center and then proceed with another stopover at equator line in Kayabwe for equator experience, photography and handcraft shopping.
After equator the drive will continue to Entebbe International Airport for your return flight or to a Hotel in Kampala for your stay if you still have some time in Kampala.
