This 4 days adventurous safari takes you to 3 of Uganda’s national parks with very rare encounters giving you an unforgettable adventure experience. Destinations include Lake Mburo National Park famous for its diverse wildlife including zebras, impalas, elands and reedbucks among others, and a home to 350 bird species, Bwindi National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site and a home to roughly half of the world’s mountain gorilla population and lastly Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, a home to Silver-back mountain gorillas and golden monkeys.

Itinerary

Day 1Transfer from Entebbe/Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park

Amity Safaris’ driver-tour guide will pick you up from Entebbe International Airport or from a hotel of your stay at 8:00 am Kampala time and brief you about the entire safari. You will then embark on an approximately 5 hours drive journey to Lake Mburo National Park through the Kampala-Masaka highway with a stopover at the equator for photography and handcraft shopping.

The drive will Proceed to Lake Mburo National Park arriving in the afternoon, have a lunch brake and join a boat cruise on Lake Mburo to see wild animals. These include hippos and crocodiles plus various bird species like Fish Eagle, Pelicans, Heron, Black Crake, and Cormorant. After you will go to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Lodge: Lake Mburo Safari Lodge, Lake Mburo Arcadia Cottages, or Rwakobo Rock depending on availability

Day 2Lake Mburo National park game drive & Transfer to Bwindi National Park

The day will commence with an early morning breakfast at your lodge and set off for a sunrise game drive through Lake Mburo Savannah plains in search of wildlife. Expected encounters include zebras, leopards, impalas, buffaloes, water bucks, elands, hippos, spotted-hyena, topi, Bohor reedbuck, olive baboon, sitatunga antelope, white-tailed mongoose, klipspringer and side-striped Jackal among others.

After the game drive, you will proceed with the journey for approximately 6 hours drive to Bwindi National Park where you will have your mountain gorilla trekking the following day. Upon arrival in the evening, you will check in into your booked lodge for dinner & overnight stay.

Lodge: Rushaga Gorilla Lodge, Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge, Engagi Lodge or any other equivalent depending on availability.

Day 3Mount Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi National Park and transfer to Kisoro

The day will commence with an early morning breakfast and then proceed to Bwindi National Park headquarters with your packed Lunch box from the lodge for a briefing by game rangers about the rules and regulations including the Dos and Don’ts of Gorilla trekking. After briefing you will start your trek through the thick rainforest vegetation for approximately 2 to 6 hours depending on where the Gorillas will be found but spotting them will be worth it and paying off. 

After trekking, you will return to park headquarters where you will be awarded certificates for trekking mountain gorillas and return to the lodge to check out for the next destination. Ascend to the south in the district of Kisoro, a few kilometers from Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, where we shall have our Golden Monkey trekking on the following day.

Lodge: Lake Mulehe Safari Lodge, Lake Mulehe Gorilla Lodge, Mutanda Lake Resort, or any other equivalent depending on availability

Day 4Golden Monkey Trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park & Transfer to Kigali, Rwanda

Upon your breakfast in the very early morning, you will head to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for Golden Monkey trekking. Trekking of these rare species takes about 4 hours. Complementary to Golden Monkey trekking, sighting of rare bird species such as Rwenzori Turaco, the Colobus, and many more others is most likely.

After the trek, we will head to Amajambere Iwacu Community Camp (AICC) just at the gateway of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for a lunch break and shortly after, transfer to Kigali, Rwanda for a return flight or to a hotel for your next stay. The drive to Kigali will go through Chanika border post for an approximately 5-hours drive to Kigali International Airport.
