This 11 days Uganda-Rwanda primates and wildlife safari will give you a rich experience of both countries highlighting major tourists’ destinations with their respective attractions and activities. These include; Rhino trekking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Game drive and wildlife viewing in Murchison falls and Queen Elizabeth National Parks, Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park, Gorilla tracking in Bwindi National Park. A safari to Rwanda will offer Golden monkey tracking in Volcanoes National Park and visit to Gorilla Guardian village to explore Rwanda’s cultural practices ending with Kigali city tour.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival at Entebbe International Airport and Transfer to the Hotel

Our driver tour guide will pick you upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, briefs you about the entire safari and then transfer you to your booked hotel in Kampala for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2Transfer to Murchison Falls with Rhino tracking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Our driver tour-guide will pick you up at 8:00am from the hotel upon your morning breakfast and then begin your journey to Murchison falls national park. The drive will go through Luwero-Gulu high way making a stopover at famous Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for the white Rhinos tracking and learn about their daily interactions.

After Rhinos tracking, the drive will proceed to Murchison falls national park with enroute Lunch in Masindi town and there after proceed with journey arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3Murchison falls National Park Game Drive, Boat cruise and top of the falls’ hike.

The trip will commence with early morning breakfast and then set off for game drive in the park to encounter a wide range of wild animals and birds including Elephants, Lions, Buffaloes, Leopards, Giraffes, Warthogs and Antelopes. Expected birds are Shoe bill stork, Grew crowned cranes-The Uganda’s National bird and the Goliath heron-The world’s largest heron.

Get back to the Lodge for Lunch break and there after go for a boat trip at the Liver Nile hoping to see crocodiles, hippos and a variety of unique water birds. Conclude your day with a hike to the top of the falls for spectacular views of the Murchison Falls and memorial photographs. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 4Transfer from Murchison falls National Park to Kibale Forest National Park

Upon morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and board our safari car for a transfer to Kibale Forest National Park, a home to over 1450 endangered Chimpanzees and Africa’s top destination for chimpanzee trekking. The drive lasts for 6-7 hours and will go through incredibly scenic views of lush green countryside and hills dotted with tea plantations arriving at the park in the evening hours. Check in into your booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay awaiting for chimpanzee trekking on the following day.

Lodge: Isunga Lodge or its equivalent depending on availability

Day 5Chimpanzee tracking and transfer to queen Elizabeth National Park.

Upon your early morning luscious breakfast at the lodge you will head out with your picnic-packed lunch and water to the park office for a briefing about the rules and regulations in regard to trekking Chimpanzees. After briefing, park rangers will lead you into the forest to track Chimpanzees for about 2-5 hours and while tracking, encountering other primates like Colobus monkeys, olive baboons, and red-tailed monkeys is most likely.

When Chimpanzees are spotted in their home forest you will be allowed 1 hour to observe them and get to learn more about their human-like behaviors, take photos and return to the lodge for lunch break.

After lunch you will board our safari car and start a 4-hours drive journey to Queen Elizabeth national park with en route to Fort Portal Crater Lakes another incredible spot for memorial photographs. On your way you will enjoy spectacular views of Rwenzori Mountains and Lake George among others with en route at the Equator for more photos arriving late in the evening. Check in into your booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay

Day 6Queen Elizabeth National Park Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Trip

The day will commence with an early morning luscious breakfast at the lodge and thereafter head out for the game drive at Kasenyi plains where you will encounter several wildlife including; African Elephant, Buffaloes, Lions, Uganda Cobs, Leopards, Warthogs, Hyenas, and antelopes among others.

Return to the lodge for lunch break and thereafter go for the boat cruise at Kazinga channel for an additional wildlife and bird watching adventure cruising through the intersection of Lake Edward and Lake George. While on a boat cruise expect magnificent encounters such as hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species upon which you will return to the lodge to dine and have a well-earned rest.

Day 7Tree-Climbing Lions in Ishasha sector and Transfer to Bwindi National Park

After morning breakfast you will head out to the south of the Park arriving in Ishasha sector in the late morning hours where you will most likely see rare tree-climbing lions a thrilling moment of your safari. While sighting of these rare tree climbing lions is not 100% guaranteed, a stopover here is worth it

After watching these rare tree-climbing lions the drive will proceed to Kihihi town for en route lunch and then to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park-Ruhija sector where our Mountain Gorilla trekking will starts the next day.

Day 8Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi National Park and Transfer to Kisoro

After an early morning breakfast, you will proceed for a briefing with your picnic packed lunch at Bwindi National Park headquarters. You will then start tracking through a thick rain-forest vegetation led by the park rangers for about 2 to 6 hours depending on the movements of Gorillas.

After spotting these gentle giants you will be allowed a maximum of 1 hour, an exciting moment to observe and learn about their routine human-like interactions and taking photos. Head out of the park and drive to the south in the district of Kisoro where we shall have our community activities on the following day

Day 9Community activities in Kisoro and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park-Rwanda

Wake up on a late morning breakfast and head out for a unique opportunity to learn more about history of local communities and their way of life. You will choose between canoe trekking at Lake Mutanda, where you will explore this lake’s historical Island and a coffee making experience, where you will get to know how coffee is locally processed and perhaps try your hand at a local industry. 

After your thrilling local activity, you will have lunch in Kisoro town and then drive to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda via Chanika immigration border post.

Lodge: Tiloreza lodge, Ingage Park View Lodge, Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge or any other equivalent depending on availability

Day 10Golden Monkey Trekking in Volcanoes National Park and visit to the Gorilla Guardians Village

Upon your early morning breakfast, you will head out to Volcanoes National Park offices for briefing about Golden Monkey trekking rules and regulations prior to trekking. Golden Monkeys are very rare species and are only found in Rwanda, Uganda and Democratic republic of Congo (DRC) in the whole world making it a very prestigious opportunity trekking them.

After about 2 hours of hiking, you will encounter these very playful and cute Golden Monkeys, spend some time with them observing and enjoying their way of interacting.

After trekking you will head out of the forest to meet your driver who will lead you for lunch and later in the afternoon drive you to the Gorilla Guardians Village one of the country’s epicenter for Cultural experience. Here you will enjoy Rwanda cultural performances and if interested you will take part. Drive back to the lodge for a well-earned dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11Transfer from Volcanoes National Park to Kigali for Kigali City tour and Departure

This is the last day of your 11-Days Uganda-Rwanda Primates and Wild Life Safari. Upon your morning breakfast our driver will transfer you to Kigali Rwanda’s capital city for Kigali City tour to conclude your safari with us. While on this tour you will visit Kigali Genocide memorial site where over 25000 bodies of 1994 Rwanda genocide victims were buried to explore Rwanda’s hearts touching historical back ground, Presidential palace museum, the main city market and Artisan shops. 

After the city tour, you will have lunch and thereafter proceed with a drive to Kigali International Airport for departure or to the Hotel of your stay sif you still have some time to stay in Kigali
